Bandai National Park, the second largest national park in Japan, boasts scenic mountains and a clear water lake. Mt. Bandai, the most famous mountain in the park, has three major peaks, Obandai (6000ft/1819m), Kushigamine (5300ft/1636m), and Akahaniyama (4700ft/1430m). The park is known for its many scenic walking trails and for the third largest freshwater lake in Japan, Lake Inawashiro. Lake Inawashiro is known as "Heavenly Mirror" for its clear water. On the north shore, there are many beaches ideal for relaxing and swimming.
