Unzen-Amakusa National Park (Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Kagoshima)

The Unzen-Amakusa National park includes a section of the Shimabara Peninsula and the Amakusa Islands. The main features of the park are the Unzen range which includes a bell-like volcano, called Fugendake and Mt. Heisei-Shinzan, located in the middle of the peninsula. Fugendake is known for its violent eruptions which occurred in 1990.
Popular attractions at this park include a halassic island-studded sea, submerged shorelines, ria coasts and 120 islands in the Amakusa area.
