Garbage Disposals
Household garbage
Your local government office is in charge of household garbage collection. You may need to separate your garbage into groups of burnable, non-burnable, and recyclable items and dispose your garbage on designated days of pick-up. Garbage separation rules and pick-up schedules vary with each local government.
Large items and appliances
The procedure for disposal of large electrical appliances and furniture differs from general household garbage disposal. Some local governments will require advance payment for large items to be collected.
In particular, the disposal of air-conditioners, TV sets, refrigerators, washing machines and dryers can be arranged by the retail shop where the item was originally purchased or where you plan to purchase a new one. Disposal of personal computers that are marked "PC recycle" can be arranged by computer retail shops, free of charge. All PC's shipped before October 1, 2003 must have this mark. There is a disposal charge for all PC's without this mark.
Recycle
Recyclable material such as newspapers, magazines, cans and glass bottles, should be disposed of separately from regular garbage. In most cities, the local government is in charge of this collection.
