Yakushima Island (Kagoshima)

Yakushima Island lies on south of Kyushu. The island is covered with ancient forest that is world natural heritage site and also known for ceders called "Yakusugi" that are estimated to be over 3000 - 7000 years old.
There are also wild monkies "Yakushima monky" that has been existed for over thousands of years.
Yakushima Island was designated a World Natural Heritage Site on December 11th, 1993.
