Towada-Hachimantai National Park (Aomori, Iwate, Akita)
Attractions: double caldera lake, volcanoes
The Towada-Hachimantai National Park is divided into two separate sections. Lake Towada, located in the northern part of the park, is a double caldera lake surrounded by old growth forest. The clarity of the water, which is over 15 meters deep, is breathtakingly scenic.
The southern part of the park boasts mountain ranges of volcanic groups including major volcanoes Hachimantai, Mt. Iwate, Nyuto and Akita Komagatake.
